Wildlife

Wildlife refers to any undomesticated animal species that lives in the wild. Many wildlife species can carry disease-transmitting vectors such as fleas and ticks. In some cases, wildlife can transmit pathogens to humans directly without an external vector. Opossums, raccoons, and skunks are examples of common wildlife species found throughout Alameda County. These three species are known to invade residential structures, causing distress for homeowners and tenants. Vector Control educates residents on deterring and preventing wildlife from living on their property. District biologists will recommend harassment techniques and use specialized equipment and strategies to exclude wildlife from a structure.
