Disease Surveillance
As the world undergoes rapid ecological changes, many areas are experiencing an expansion of vector related pathogens. Vector Control routinely collects ticks, fleas and other ectoparasites from the environment, rodents, and wildlife and tests them for disease-causing pathogens. Vector Control participates in the California Department of Public Health’s West Nile virus surveillance program and maintains a sentinel chicken flock during mosquito season.
