The ACVCSD promotes and applies integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to control pest problems. Key tools in IPM includes modifying the local environment to make it less attractive to pests; improving sanitation to reduce or eliminate food sources; public education and outreach to inform and identify pest problems, as well as recommending the least-toxic pesticides that are effective against target pest, but have low toxicity to humans, pets, the environment and non-targeted animals.
